Kolkata, the cultural capital of India has been home to several artistic initiations. One such movement, the art of embossing and painting on leather bags, was brought to the limelight by son of eminent poet and writer, Rabindranath Tagore. He worked with local artisans of Bengal to create the heirloom 'Shantiniketan Bag'.
Inspired by the pristine craftsmanship of the product, Mr. Tapan Nandi forayed into the finished leather goods business 4 decades ago. In 1978, with an aim to further empower local talent, he joined forces with Rajashree Guha to bring alive his vision. Owing to her fashion sensibilities, Munai's Creation was born; creators of exquisite finished leather products.
